Harmony, I-25, Crossroads
From Timnath Town Hall on Signal Tree Drive, it is under a mile to the Harmony Road interchange, then about five miles south on I-25 to the Crossroads Boulevard exit and a short hop east to 7352 Greenridge Road. Call it eight and a half miles and 10 to 15 minutes — one of the shortest trips of any town we serve.
If you are already out on Harmony for Costco or one of the newer shops along the corridor, you are basically on the way.
A small town that grew up fast
Timnath started as a railroad stop in 1882 on a bluff above the Cache la Poudre River. The Rev. Charles Taylor, the first postmaster, named it for the biblical town where Samson found his Philistine wife. For most of its history, the fields around it grew potatoes, alfalfa, and sugar beets. Then the Harmony Road corridor filled in: the town counted about 6,500 residents in the 2020 Census and has kept growing quickly since, with new neighborhoods like Ladera rising south of Costco.
Old Town Timnath still sits a half-mile east of the interstate, and the Poudre River Trail runs right through the middle of it. It is the kind of place where people spend the week close to home and the weekend somewhere with a view.

Horsetooth Reservoir
The six-and-a-half-mile reservoir west of Fort Collins is the closest big-water escape, with boat ramps at South Bay, Inlet Bay, Satanka, and North Pines. Easy towing distance for a boat or a pair of kayaks on the roof.
Laporte & Rist Canyon
The way into the foothills. Rist Canyon Road climbs west from Laporte to Stove Prairie and Buckhorn Road, where the first real forest roads begin.
Red Feather Lakes
North on US-287 to Livermore and up Red Feather Lakes Road into a big network of forest routes and camping country — a classic first overland weekend.
Set up for weekends away
If your vehicle is a comfortable SUV or half-ton that mostly sees pavement, you do not need a hardcore build to start exploring. The upgrades that fit are the ones that turn a daily driver into a capable weekend rig without ruining it for Monday.

Timnath FAQ
Will lifting my truck put my headlights out of legal range?
It can if the lift is big enough. Colorado requires headlamps to be mounted with their centers between 24 and 54 inches above the ground (C.R.S. 42-4-205). We factor headlight height and aim into planning a lift so you stay legal and do not blind oncoming drivers on I-25.
How tall can my truck be with a roof rack and tent?
Colorado’s overall vehicle height limit is 14 feet 6 inches (C.R.S. 42-4-504), which a typical rack and tent will not come close to. The more practical limit is your garage door and parking structures — measure before you buy, and we will help you plan around it.
Can a daily-driven SUV become a weekend camping rig?
Absolutely. A good roof rack, some interior lighting, and the right all-terrain tire go a long way for Red Feather–style trips. You do not have to give up comfort to get there.
