Suspension & steering
Lifts and levels for more clearance and bigger tires, plus the steering and ball joint work that keeps the front end tight once you have them. Start with the job you have in mind, or with the symptom you’re feeling at the wheel.
Height, steering and joints work as one
A suspension change never stays in one place. Raise a truck and the angles change at the control arms, the track bar, the tie rods, the CV axles and the driveshaft. Add a heavier tire and every steering joint carries more leverage. That is why we look at lift, steering and ball joints together before we quote any one of them.

Raise the whole vehicle for tire size and ground clearance, with the supporting parts the height requires.

My truck sits nose-down
That factory rake is what a leveling kit removes. It is the lowest-cost way to square up a pickup and clear a modestly larger tire.
I want 35s or bigger
That usually means a lift kit, often with bump stops, a track bar or control arms to match. Tire size comes first, then the lift that clears it.
The front end shakes or wanders
Violent shaking after a bump, or constant small corrections on the highway, point to steering parts: track bar, tie rod ends, drag link or the steering gear.
It clunks and eats tires
A knock over bumps and tread wearing on one edge are classic signs of loose ball joints or tired control arm bushings.
Solid axles and independent fronts
Jeeps like the Wrangler JL, JK, TJ and Gladiator ride on a solid front axle held in place by control arms and a track bar. Their lifts are about coil height, track bar position and caster, and their steering complaints usually trace back to the linkage.
The Bronco, 4Runner, Tacoma, F-150, Ram 1500 and Silverado and Sierra 1500 use independent front suspension instead. On those, the upper ball joint angle and CV axle angle set the practical limit on height.
How we handle suspension work
Parts matched to use
A daily driver that tows, an overland rig carrying a rack and tent, and a trail Jeep all want different spring rates and shocks. We ask before we recommend.
Aligned before pickup
Any change to ride height or steering geometry leaves with a proper alignment, with your wheels and tires mounted and balanced in the same visit.
Clear about trade-offs
If a height or tire size needs trimming, a driveshaft or gearing we don’t install, we say so before you order anything.
Direct dealer brands
Rough Country direct and MetalCloak, which we specialize in, plus Fox, JKS and Zone Offroad through our Sport Truck USA account, and 130+ brands through the major distributors.
Once parts arrive, most jobs get into the shop within about a week. We’re open Monday through Friday, 9 to 4, with early drop-off and late pickup available. Lift kit customers from nearby towns can also read our local pages for Windsor, Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley.
Suspension and steering FAQ
Where should I start with a build?
Decide on the tire size you want, then choose the lift or level that clears it. Armor, racks and lighting come easier once the stance and ride are settled, because their weight affects the spring choice.
Can you fix a lift another shop installed?
Yes. We inspect the whole front end first, since wander or a rough ride after a lift can come from a loose track bar, a missed torque spec, bump stops set wrong or parts that don’t suit the vehicle.
How long does a suspension job take?
A leveling kit or a joint replacement is usually quick. A full lift with control arms, a track bar and new tires takes longer. We give you a timeline with the quote, and most jobs get into the shop within about a week of parts arriving.
Is lifting a vehicle legal in Colorado?
Colorado law regulates changes to a vehicle’s suspension (C.R.S. 42-4-233), and headlamps must sit no higher than 54 inches to their center. We build to keep your vehicle road-legal.

Zach did an excellent job replacing my Jeeps ball joints. Very satisfied with the joints he suggested and the work that was done.
Zach did some suspension work on my truck and it came out great, he was quick and the price was fair. Will definitely be back for more work in the future.
I had a great experience at Off Camber 4x4 as Zach is a true professional and pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond getting all hardware snugged up even though it wasn’t in the estimate - with being a late request made when I dropped off the truck. Additionally, Off Camber’s shop not only provided the most reasonable price out of the four estimates I received, they were the ONLY shop that recommended a follow up inspection for the type of service I had done. They installed a leveling kit, control arms, rear shocks, dual exhaust system, and a trailer receiver along with including the complementary inspection at 500 miles to make sure everything was still tight.
I had some Rubicon takeoff springs installed on my Wrangler JL Sport 2 door. It was awesome to watch Zach work. He took time to torque everything properly and still completed the job in a very timely fashion. It was a great experience!
Zach did a great job on the lift install for my sequoia. Highly recommend!
I recently had a set of Fox 2.0 shocks installed on my daughter's Jeep at Off-Camber 4x4 Garage and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the Zach and Team was knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. They took the time to explain the different shock options, ensuring we chose the best setup for her needs. The installation was done quickly and with great attention to detail. The Jeep now handles better than ever—smoother on the road and more capable off it.
Zach went above and beyond for me. I Had him install readyair bags on my F350 and even though he ran into an issue that wasn’t his fault that made the install take longer, he honored his original estimate and gave me a military discount on top of that. Stand up guys here. Professional and easy to work with! Highly recommend
Zack made a great recommendation on the Old Man Emu overland suspension for my 2021 Ford Ranger. Also on the installation. Truck rides and handles great.
