The lighting you use every single day
Exterior lighting gets the attention, but the lights inside the cab and bed are the ones you touch most. A single dim dome bulb makes it hard to find a dropped phone, read a trail map or dig a jacket out of the back seat. In a truck bed or a Jeep cargo area packed with gear, it lights almost nothing.
Interior upgrades are also some of the smallest jobs we do, which makes them a good add-on when your truck is already in for a lift, bumper or rack install.
Interior lighting we install
LED dome and map bulbs
Replacement LED bulbs for the factory dome, map and visor lamps. Brighter, whiter and cooler-running than the incandescent bulbs most trucks came with.
Cargo area lighting
LED strips or low-profile pods along the rear cargo area of a Wrangler, Bronco or 4Runner, tied to the liftgate or a switch.
Bed lighting
LED strips under the bed rail lip or pods on a bed rack. Form Lighting makes bed lights for the 2015–2020 F-150.
Red or dimmable night lighting
Low red or dimmed white light keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark at camp and while reading a map on the trail.
Footwell and accent lighting
Soft light at floor level so you can find the step and the floor mat in the dark, kept subtle so it never reflects in the windshield.
Puddle and mirror lighting
Lights that shine down beside the doors so you see where you’re stepping. Form Lighting lists mirror lights for the F-150 and 4Runner, and puddle lights for the F-150.
How we wire interior lights
Bulb swaps first
Where a factory fixture exists, an LED bulb in the right base is the simplest upgrade. We match polarity and check that the lamp shuts off fully, since some LEDs glow faintly on circuits with a small leak current.
Computer-monitored circuits
On newer vehicles the body control module manages interior lights, fades them and times them out. Most LED bulbs work fine, but a few vehicles need a specific bulb to avoid flicker or a dome light that won’t fade.
New circuits get their own fuse
Added cargo, bed or accent lighting doesn’t hang off the dome light wire. It gets a fused feed, a switch or door trigger, and wiring hidden behind trim panels. Switches can live in a backlit overhead console, dressed up with a custom badge like the one in our photos.
No battery surprises
Anything that can be left on gets an ignition-switched feed or a timer, so a bed light forgotten overnight at a trailhead doesn’t leave you with a dead battery.
Lighting for a rig you sleep in
If the truck doubles as a camp, interior lighting becomes part of the build. A roof-top tent needs a light you can reach from the ladder, a bed rack setup needs lighting for the drawers and cooler, and a warm, dimmable light in the cabin is easier to live with than a harsh white dome at midnight. We plan those circuits together with any auxiliary power you’re adding, so switches end up in one sensible place.

What changes the job
Swapping every interior bulb for LEDs is a quick job on most vehicles. Hiding new wiring behind headliners, pillars and cargo trim takes more time, and a truck bed strip with wiring run along the frame takes more still. If you have a specific product in mind, our distributors carry more than 130 brands.
Once the parts are here, most jobs get into the bay within about a week. We’re open Monday through Friday, 9 to 4, and early drop-off and late pickup are available.
Interior lighting FAQ
Can you upgrade just the factory dome and map bulbs?
Yes. An LED bulb swap is the simplest interior upgrade and makes a noticeable difference. We make sure the new bulbs fit the housing and shut off completely.
Why does my LED dome light glow faintly when it’s off?
Some vehicles leak a tiny current through the circuit, enough to make an LED glow. The fix is usually a bulb designed for that vehicle or a small load added to the circuit.
Can you add lighting to my truck bed?
Yes, with LED strips under the bed rail or pods on a bed rack, wired to a switch or the tailgate. It is one of the most useful upgrades for anyone loading gear before dawn.
Is accent lighting distracting while driving?
It shouldn’t be. We keep footwell and accent lighting low, dimmable and aimed away from the glass so it doesn’t reflect in the windshield.
Will extra interior lights drain my battery?
Not when they’re wired on an ignition-switched feed or a timer. We avoid wiring anything that can quietly stay on overnight.
