A rig that carries its own camp
Overlanding means driving somewhere remote and staying a while, with the vehicle hauling your bed, kitchen, water and recovery gear. Trouble starts when parts get added one at a time with no plan: a tent that blocks the rack you wanted for fuel, a fridge with nowhere to draw power, or a truck squatting on its bump stops because nobody added up the weight.

Most builds grow in this order, because each layer mounts to, or depends on, the one before it. The last step is making sure the vehicle can carry it all level.
Three numbers that shape every build
Before we talk brands, we look at the limits your vehicle already has.
Payload
The tire and loading sticker in the driver's door jamb lists the most that occupants and cargo can weigh combined. Racks, tent, water, fridge, bumpers and passengers all come out of that one number, and a loaded overland rig can reach it faster than people expect.
Rack ratings
Racks carry two ratings: what they can hold while driving and a higher figure for when you are parked. The lower of your roof or bed and the rack itself is the real limit, not the biggest number on the box.
Height
Every inch on top adds to what you must clear at home, at work and in parking structures. A rack plus a tent on a lifted truck can outgrow a garage door that fit fine last year.
Built for Northern Colorado trips
From our shop off I-25 at Crossroads Blvd, forest roads are a short drive away. Buckhorn Rd over Pennock Pass turns from gravel to dirt and gets rougher over its final switchbacks, which is enough to shake loose anything mounted carelessly. Old Flowers Rd is an easy route, but its gates stay closed from fall until late June depending on snow, so trips cluster into a short season when a dependable setup matters most. Farther out, Middle St. Vrain and Coney Flats bring rock gardens and creek crossings that punish a rig carrying more weight than its suspension was set up for.
If the gear has pushed your vehicle down in back, Air Lift air bags level it out when it is loaded and let back down for the daily drive. For a rig that stays loaded, pair the build with a lift kit or springs rated for the weight.
Bolt-on installs, one drop-off
Everything we install here is a bolt-on product from a manufacturer: racks, tents, awnings, slides, mounts and wiring for accessories. Our go-to brands are Gobi, ARB, Rhino-Rack and Adventure Rack Systems for roof racks, upTOP Overland for bed racks, and iKamper, Roofnest and Overland Vehicle Systems for tents. We don’t weld or build custom drawer systems in-house, though light fabrication like a mount or a bar is no problem, and our distributors open up more than 130 brands if you have something else in mind.
Time and cost depend on how many pieces go on at once, whether a rack needs drilling or uses existing mounting points, and how much accessory wiring is involved. Once parts are here, your rig usually gets a bay within about a week. The shop is open weekdays 9 to 4, and we can arrange early drop-off or a late pickup. Customers come from Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley and across the region.

Where should an overland build start?
Usually with the rack, because the tent, awning and most gear mounts attach to it. On a pickup that often means a bed rack; on an SUV or Jeep, a roof platform. Suspension comes next if the added weight makes the rig sag; air bags are often the simplest fix.
Do you work on trucks, SUVs and Jeeps?
Yes. Pickups usually carry gear on a bed rack, while SUVs and Wranglers carry it on the roof or rear. The planning is the same: stay inside payload and the rack ratings.
Can you build custom drawers or fabricate a rack?
No. We install bolt-on racks and drawer systems made by manufacturers, though light fabrication like a mount or a bar is no problem. With more than 130 brands to choose from, there is usually a bolt-on option that fits.
How much does an overland build cost?
It depends on the vehicle, how much goes on and the brands you choose. We quote the parts and install for your specific rig, and many owners spread a build across several visits.

They installed a leveling kit, control arms, rear shocks, dual exhaust system, and a trailer receiver along with including the complementary inspection at 500 miles to make sure everything was still tight.
I had some Rubicon takeoff springs installed on my Wrangler JL Sport 2 door. It was awesome to watch Zach work. He took time to torque everything properly and still completed the job in a very timely fashion. It was a great experience!
