Truck leveling kits

Take the factory rake out of your truck, fill the wheel wells and make room for a slightly bigger tire, without the cost and trade-offs of a full lift. Book a free consultation and we will match the kit to your truck.

Why level

Why your truck sits nose-down

Pickups leave the factory lower in front than in back. That rake is there so the truck still sits flat with a loaded bed or a trailer on the hitch. Most of the time the bed is empty, so the truck just looks like it is leaning forward.

A leveling kit raises the front, usually one and a half to two and a half inches, to bring it even with the rear. The back of the truck stays at factory height, so your hitch height barely changes. It is the most affordable way to improve the stance and clear a modestly larger tire, and it is the first step for most of the trucks we build.

Fitment

Trucks we level most

Every truck levels a little differently, and so does every generation and trim. These are the trucks we level most often, and the details that change the parts list. Bring your year and trim to a free consultation and we will confirm what fits.

2002–present

Ram 1500

3rd gen4th gen5th gen

Levels at the top of the strut, with a spacer or complete leveling struts. The 2019–2024 Ram 1500 Classic takes 4th gen parts. Air-ride trucks, the Rebel and the TRX need their own plan.

2003–present

Ram 2500

3rd gen4th gen5th gen

A solid front axle on coils, leveled with a coil spacer and a shock sized for the height. The Power Wagon, Rebel HD and trucks with rear auto-level air are handled differently.

2009–present

Ford F-150

12th gen13th gen14th gen

Strut spacers, leveling struts, Bilstein 5100 or Fox coilovers. The Tremor and Raptor ride on their own suspension and are not candidates for these kits.

2007–present

Silverado & Sierra 1500

GMT900K2XXT1XX

Strut-front trucks level at the top of the strut. The Trail Boss and AT4 already have a factory 2-inch lift, and the ZR2, AT4X and adaptive-ride trims need their own plan.

2007–present

Silverado & Sierra 2500HD

GMT900K2XXT1XX

Torsion bars up front, so these level with new torsion keys and shocks that suit the height. The HD ZR2 and AT4X use Multimatic dampers and get their own plan.

2005–present

Toyota Tacoma

2nd gen3rd gen4th gen

Strut spacers, Bilstein 5100 or Fox coilovers. The TRD Pro and Trailhunter come with upgraded factory suspension, and that changes what makes sense.

2007–present

Toyota Tundra

2nd gen3rd gen

Spacers, Bilstein 5100 or Fox coilovers. The TRD Pro, rear load-leveling air and Adaptive Variable Suspension each call for a different plan.

2003–present

Toyota 4Runner

4th gen5th gen6th gen

Front strut spacers with a matching rear coil spacer. We check for KDSS, X-REAS and rear air before recommending a kit, since each changes which parts fit.

Don’t see your truck? We level plenty of others, including Jeep Gladiators, Broncos and midsize Chevy and GMC pickups. Book a consultation, call or text and tell us what you drive.

How it works

Three kinds of front ends

How a truck gets leveled depends on what holds up its front end. The trucks above use one of three designs, and that decides which kinds of kits are even possible. Tap a card to see how each one levels and what we check.

Front end 01

Strut front ends

Half-ton and midsize trucks, like the Ram 1500, F-150, Silverado and Sierra 1500, Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner, use independent front suspension with a coil spring wrapped around a strut.

Leveled 3rd-gen Toyota Tacoma with an independent strut front end

How it levels

  • Strut spacer: a spacer on top of the strut raises the front and keeps the factory strut. The least expensive way to level.
  • Leveling strut: a complete strut built taller, like a Rough Country N3, Bilstein 5100 or Fox 2.0, so worn factory struts are replaced in the same job.
  • Adjustable coilover: Fox, Eibach and others make coilovers with adjustable ride height for the most control over height and ride.

What we check

  • Upper ball joint angle: bigger levels can push the factory joint toward its limit, so some trucks need aftermarket upper control arms.
  • CV axle angle on 4x4s, which is why we keep levels in a sensible range.
  • An alignment every time, since the front geometry changes.

Doing the install yourself? We offer strut assembly so you never have to compress a spring.

Front end 02

Solid front axle with coils

The Ram 2500 rides on a solid front axle with coil springs, the same basic layout as a Jeep. There is no strut to space up, so the height comes from the spring.

Ram 2500 heavy-duty truck with a solid front axle

How it levels

  • Coil spacer: a spacer under the coil spring raises the front and is paired with shocks sized for the new height.
  • Leveling springs: taller front coils do the same job with no spacer, and can be matched to a heavy bumper or winch.
  • Shocks: the factory shocks run out of travel at the new height, so a leveled solid axle gets longer shocks.

What we check

  • Track bar angle: raising the axle pulls it sideways, which is why steering parts like the track bar matter more here than on a half-ton.
  • Steering linkage and the steering wheel center after the level.
  • An alignment to reset toe and check caster.
Front end 03

Torsion bars

The Silverado and Sierra 2500HD use torsion bars instead of front coil springs. The bar twists as the suspension moves, and a key at one end sets its preload and the truck’s front ride height.

Chevy Silverado 2500HD with a torsion bar front suspension

How it levels

  • Leveling torsion keys: new keys set the bars at a different angle to raise the front, without simply cranking the factory keys to their limit.
  • Shocks: keys are paired with shocks sized for the added height so the suspension doesn’t top out.

What we check

  • Ride quality: too much preload on the bars makes the front ride stiff and cuts down-travel, so we set height to a sensible range.
  • Front-end parts and CV axles on 4x4s, which see steeper angles at the new height.
  • An alignment every time.
Front end 04

Factory off-road trims

Trucks like the Ram Rebel, F-150 Tremor, Chevy ZR2, GMC AT4X and Toyota TRD Pro leave the factory sitting higher on their own shocks, and some use adaptive or air suspension.

Leveled 14th-gen Ford F-150

How it levels

  • Premium factory shocks: many of these trucks already have Fox, Bilstein or specialty dampers, so a level has to work with them or replace them with something better.
  • Adaptive and air suspension: height is managed by the truck, and spacers or sensor-link changes have to be chosen carefully so the system keeps working.
  • Sometimes the answer is no level: a few of these trucks are already close to level, and bigger tires on the right wheels is the better upgrade.

What we check

  • Warnings and system faults on adaptive or air setups.
  • Warranty questions on the factory off-road hardware.
  • What you want out of the truck: height, tire size or ride.

These trucks need their own plan, so call or text 970-509-5118 before booking and we’ll look at your exact trim.

Your options

Ways to level a truck

These are the leveling options we install most, from a simple spacer to fully adjustable coilovers. The real difference between them is what happens to your ride. Tap a card for what you get, who it suits and the trade-offs.

Not every option is available for every vehicle. Some are made only for certain trucks, generations or drivetrains, so we confirm fitment for your truck before anything is ordered.

We are a direct Rough Country and Fox dealer and can get parts from more than 130 brands, so if you want Rancho, ReadyLift, Icon or another brand, ask. Costs are relative and parts pricing moves, so we quote your truck instead of publishing a menu. Book a free consultation and we will price the option you pick.

Leveling option · $

Spacer kit

The simplest and least expensive way to level. A spacer adds height at the front while the factory shocks or struts stay in place.

What you get

  • Strut trucks: a spacer on top of the strut.
  • Ram 2500: a spacer under the front coil spring.
  • Torsion-bar 2500HDs: leveling torsion keys.

Best for

  • Low-mileage trucks with healthy factory shocks.
  • Owners who want the look and room for a slightly bigger tire on a budget.

Trade-offs

  • The factory shocks now work at a new height with less travel, so the ride can feel a little busier.
  • Worn shocks stay on the truck, so an older truck is often better off with new struts.

Not every option is made for every truck, generation or drivetrain. We confirm fitment for your truck before anything is ordered.

Leveling option · $$

Rough Country N3 and M1

Complete struts or shocks built at leveled height, so worn factory dampers come out in the same job. Rough Country is one of our direct dealer accounts.

What you get

  • N3: a twin-tube that rides close to stock.
  • M1: a monotube that is firmer and better controlled on gravel and washboard.

Best for

  • Daily drivers with worn factory struts.
  • Owners who want new dampers and a level for about the cost of one job.

Trade-offs

  • Height is fixed by the part, not adjustable.
  • The M1 is noticeably firmer than stock.

Not every option is made for every truck, generation or drivetrain. We confirm fitment for your truck before anything is ordered.

Leveling option · $$–$$$

Bilstein 5100

German-built monotube shocks and struts that reuse your factory springs. On many strut trucks the front strut has height settings, so you can pick your level.

What you get

  • Front struts with adjustable spring-seat positions on many trucks.
  • Matching rear shocks sized for the new height.

Best for

  • Trucks that tow, haul or spend time on gravel.
  • Owners who want a controlled, planted ride.

Trade-offs

  • Firmer than stock, especially empty.
  • Reusing the factory springs means the springs must be in good shape.

Not every option is made for every truck, generation or drivetrain. We confirm fitment for your truck before anything is ordered.

Leveling option · $$–$$$$

Fox

Fox covers the widest range, from a simple leveling strut to fully adjustable coilovers. We buy Fox through our direct Sport Truck USA account.

What you get

  • 2.0 Performance: a leveling strut and matching rear shocks.
  • 2.0 and 2.5 coilovers: adjustable ride height with bigger bodies for heat and control.
  • Performance Elite: a reservoir and adjustable damping to tune the ride.

Best for

  • Owners who want to set their own height.
  • Trucks that see trail miles and heat.

Trade-offs

  • Higher cost as you move up the range.
  • Adjustable coilovers take setup to get the height and ride right.

Not every option is made for every truck, generation or drivetrain. We confirm fitment for your truck before anything is ordered.

Leveling option · $$–$$$

ARB Old Man Emu

Nitrocharger shocks paired with OME springs chosen for your truck and the load it carries. The kit is picked as a system, not just for height.

What you get

  • Front springs or coilovers rated for your truck’s weight and accessories.
  • Nitrocharger shocks matched to those springs.

Best for

  • Overland rigs with drawers, racks, bumpers and gear.
  • Trucks that carry weight most of the time.

Trade-offs

  • Spring choice depends on your load, so we talk through what the truck carries first.
  • Less about the look and more about carrying weight level.

Not every option is made for every truck, generation or drivetrain. We confirm fitment for your truck before anything is ordered.

Leveling option · $$$–$$$$

Eibach Pro-Truck

A matched front and rear system with adjustable front coilovers, so the front height is set to what you want.

What you get

  • Stage 1: adjustable front coilovers with matched rear shocks.
  • Stage 2: adds rear springs for trucks that carry weight or want a little more height.

Best for

  • Owners who want adjustable height in a matched kit.
  • Trucks that haul, with Stage 2.

Trade-offs

  • Costs more than a spacer or leveling strut.
  • Height needs to be set during install and checked at the alignment.

Not every option is made for every truck, generation or drivetrain. We confirm fitment for your truck before anything is ordered.

Before you level

What a level changes

A level is simple, but it still changes how the front end works. Here is what we look at, and what we will tell you before anything is ordered.

Joints

Ball joints and control arms

More height puts a steeper angle on the upper ball joints and, on 4x4s, the CV axles. A mild level is fine on most trucks. If you want more, upgraded upper control arms or ball joints keep the geometry happy.

Tires

Tire size

Most leveled trucks gain about one tire size. What actually fits depends on wheel width and offset as much as the kit, so we confirm the tire that won’t rub before you buy. Wheel and tire packages go on in the same visit.

Tow

Towing and hauling

The rear stays at factory height, so your hitch doesn’t move much. A heavy tongue weight will still pull the nose down, so if you tow big, ask us about a weight-distributing hitch.

Tech

Speedometer and sensors

Bigger tires make the speedometer read low, and a change in height can shift front radar and camera aim. We don’t do speedometer programming or ADAS recalibration, so plan on having those handled separately if your truck needs them.

What to expect

One drop-off, done

We install the kit, torque everything to spec and finish with a proper alignment, so the truck tracks straight and wears its tires evenly. Most jobs get into the bay within about a week of parts arriving.

We’re open Monday through Friday, 9 to 4. Early drop-off and late pickup are available, and special requests can be discussed. Serving Windsor, Greeley, Fort Collins, Loveland and the rest of Northern Colorado.

Questions

Leveling kit FAQ

What is the difference between a leveling kit and a lift kit?

A leveling kit raises only the front to match the rear, usually 1.5 to 2.5 inches. A lift kit raises the whole truck, usually more, and takes more parts, cost and install time. See our lift kits page if you want more height.

Does a leveling kit ruin the ride?

A spacer kit keeps the ride close to stock. New struts or shocks, like the Rough Country M1, Bilstein 5100 or Fox, often ride better than a tired factory setup, especially on rough roads.

How big a tire can I fit after leveling?

Usually one size up from stock, depending on the truck, wheel width and offset. We confirm what fits without rubbing before you buy tires.

Do I need an alignment after a leveling kit?

Yes. Raising the front changes the alignment, so every leveling job we do leaves with a proper alignment in the same visit.

Will a leveling kit void my warranty?

An aftermarket part doesn’t void your whole warranty. A dealer can deny a claim only if they can show the part caused the failure. Ask us if you are worried about a specific component.

Can I book a leveling kit online?

Yes. Book a free consultation, tell us your truck and what you want, and we will confirm fitment, quote it and set the appointment.

Zach did some suspension work on my truck and it came out great, he was quick and the price was fair. Will definitely be back for more work in the future.

I had a great experience at Off Camber 4x4 as Zach is a true professional and pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond getting all hardware snugged up even though it wasn’t in the estimate - with being a late request made when I dropped off the truck. Additionally, Off Camber’s shop not only provided the most reasonable price out of the four estimates I received, they were the ONLY shop that recommended a follow up inspection for the type of service I had done. They installed a leveling kit, control arms, rear shocks, dual exhaust system, and a trailer receiver along with including the complementary inspection at 500 miles to make sure everything was still tight.

I had some Rubicon takeoff springs installed on my Wrangler JL Sport 2 door. It was awesome to watch Zach work. He took time to torque everything properly and still completed the job in a very timely fashion. It was a great experience!

I recently had a set of Fox 2.0 shocks installed on my daughter's Jeep at Off-Camber 4x4 Garage and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the Zach and Team was knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. They took the time to explain the different shock options, ensuring we chose the best setup for her needs. The installation was done quickly and with great attention to detail. The Jeep now handles better than ever—smoother on the road and more capable off it.
