Fort Collins pickups, sitting level
A pickup that commutes all week and heads for Rist Canyon or the reservoir on Saturday rarely needs a tall lift. Raising the front to match the rear often solves the stance and the tire question at once.
Where a level fits for half-ton and heavy-duty owners
Suppose your truck handles Harmony Road traffic during the week and, a few times a season, you drive out through Laporte and up Rist Canyon Road toward Stove Prairie, or continue onto Buckhorn Road. Buckhorn is a county road rated easy, passable by most vehicles when dry, with 4WD or AWD advisable when it is wet, and it crosses the Cameron Peak burn scar. Trips like those reward a slightly bigger all-terrain tire and a bit more clearance, which a leveling kit delivers without the extra parts a full lift usually involves.
When plans shift toward rated trails with rock steps, a level stops being enough. That is the point to look at the lift kits we install for Fort Collins drivers instead. We would rather say so up front than sell you a level you outgrow in one summer.

Coil-over and strut trucks
Most light-duty pickups level with a spacer or a replacement strut assembly. A complete strut often rides better than a spacer stacked on a worn factory unit.
Heavier front ends
Three-quarter and one-ton diesels put a lot of mass on the front suspension. Depending on the design, leveling can mean coil spacers, torsion adjustments, or new shocks sized for the added height.
Alignment and headlight aim
Raising the front shifts alignment angles and points the headlights higher. We complete the alignment and check headlamp aim before the truck leaves.
Leveled trucks and Horsetooth launch days
Horsetooth Reservoir runs about 6.5 miles along the west edge of town, and Larimer County operates several ramps there, including South Bay, Inlet Bay, Satanka and North Pines. If you tow a boat to any of them, remember what the factory rake was designed for. With the front raised and a heavy tongue pressing on the hitch, the truck can end up nose-high, which lightens steering and throws the headlights upward on the drive home after dark.
For lighter boats and utility trailers a mild level is usually a non-issue. For heavier loads we talk through tongue weight, hitch setup, and whether a smaller amount of leveling makes more sense for your truck. Kit specifics are on the main leveling kits page, and our Fort Collins service area page has the route to the shop.

Leveled and ready for bigger rubber

Leveling, answered
Is leveling enough for Rist Canyon and Buckhorn Road, or should I lift?
For easy county and forest roads driven in good weather, a level plus a modestly larger all-terrain tire covers a lot of ground. If you expect to tackle routes rated moderate or difficult, the added clearance and travel of a real lift start to matter.
Should I worry about towing to Horsetooth after leveling my truck?
With light trailers, rarely. With a heavy boat, the raised front plus tongue weight can leave the truck nose-high. We look at your trailer and hitch before recommending how much to level.
Does a leveling kit make the truck ride harsher?
It depends on the parts. A spacer on tired factory struts can feel busier over bumps, while a quality replacement strut or shock often rides as well as stock or better.
Is an alignment really needed for just two inches?
Yes. Even small front height changes move toe and camber enough to wear tires quickly, so no leveling install leaves here without an alignment.

Zach did some suspension work on my truck and it came out great, he was quick and the price was fair. Will definitely be back for more work in the future.
I had a great experience at Off Camber 4x4 as Zach is a true professional and pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond getting all hardware snugged up even though it wasn’t in the estimate - with being a late request made when I dropped off the truck. Additionally, Off Camber’s shop not only provided the most reasonable price out of the four estimates I received, they were the ONLY shop that recommended a follow up inspection for the type of service I had done. They installed a leveling kit, control arms, rear shocks, dual exhaust system, and a trailer receiver along with including the complementary inspection at 500 miles to make sure everything was still tight.
Zack made a great recommendation on the Old Man Emu overland suspension for my 2021 Ford Ranger. Also on the installation. Truck rides and handles great.
Zach and the team of Off-camber 4x4 went above and beyond to help me with a Leveling Kit for my 2019 Ram 2500! They were fast and worked around my schedule to allow for easier drop off and pickup once they were completed. 10/10 recommend them to anyone and everyone. I will only use Off-Camber
Great job repairing my rear tire mount.
Zach did an excellent job replacing my Jeeps ball joints. Very satisfied with the joints he suggested and the work that was done.
Zach was insanely helpful. He handled a pretty out of the box request with ease. I will recommend him to anyone in the area or passing through!
I had some Rubicon takeoff springs installed on my Wrangler JL Sport 2 door. It was awesome to watch Zach work. He took time to torque everything properly and still completed the job in a very timely fashion. It was a great experience!
