Why tire size matters east of I-25
Weld County maintains roughly 2,080 miles of gravel road and about 780 miles of pavement. When a spring or summer storm soaks those roads, the surface can turn soft and the shoulders get greasy. A modest lift that makes room for a slightly taller all-terrain tire gives the truck more sidewall and more tread depth to work with on that kind of ground.
Bigger is not automatically better on a work truck, though. Every size step up adds weight, can affect speedometer accuracy, and may make the truck feel slower when it is towing. Is a lift worth it if my mountain trips start in Greeley?
