Windsor leveling kits for trucks that tow and commute

Take out the nose-down factory stance, make room for a slightly larger tire, and keep the ride comfortable enough for the daily run up and down I-25.

Lake days and trailers

Think about the hitch before you pick a height

Windsor Lake sits right in town, wrapped by Boardwalk Community Park on North 5th Street, with a beach, boating and fishing. The shop is about six miles and 13 minutes from the park, so it is easy to picture how your truck will be used on a summer Saturday: boat on the ball, family in the cab, a slow pull down to the water. Campers and utility trailers heading out of town put similar loads on the rear.

Tongue weight pushes the back of the truck down and lifts weight off the front axle. Level the front too aggressively and a loaded truck may sit with its nose pointed up, aiming headlights upward and making the hitch sit at an awkward angle. When you call or text, tell us what you tow and roughly how heavy it is. We will pick a leveling height that keeps the rig close to flat under the trailer, and we will point out when a drop hitch or a weight-distributing setup is worth a conversation.

Measure loaded and empty

Measurements from fender lip to ground, hitched and unhitched, tell us more than a guess about rake.

B

Aim the headlights

Once the front comes up, beam height changes. We check that the lights still land on the road instead of in oncoming windshields.

C

Align afterward

Raising the front shifts camber and toe, so we finish with an alignment before you come back for the truck.

The daily commute

A truck that still behaves on the interstate

Windsor’s growth has followed I-25, and large employers such as Vestas and Hexcel are part of that corridor landscape. Whatever direction your commute runs, a Windsor truck that gets leveled will probably spend far more hours at highway speed than on dirt. That is why we avoid cheap spacers that only raise the nose and leave worn factory shocks doing all the work. Depending on your platform, a quality strut assembly or a matched shock can keep the ride composed at 75 miles per hour and over expansion joints.

We install from brands we have dealer accounts for, including Rough Country, and Fox through Sport Truck USA, and we will tell you plainly when a basic kit is enough for how you drive.

Before and after the level

Good questions

Before you level a Windsor truck

Will leveling change how my truck handles tongue weight?

The rear suspension does the same job it did before, but the starting point moves. A truck that sat level with a trailer may sit slightly nose-high after leveling. Give us your trailer type and approximate weight, and we will choose a height and hitch setup that keeps the truck close to flat when it is hooked up.

What tire size fits after leveling?

Usually about one size up from stock, though wheel offset, trim level and your platform all matter. Before naming a size, we turn the wheels lock to lock and look for rub, and the new set is mounted and balanced before your pickup.

How long does the install take?

It varies with the kit and the truck. When you book, we give you a realistic timeline for your specific vehicle, so you can line up a ride home or to work.

Leveling kit or spacer?

Spacers are the least expensive route, but they keep your factory shocks. On a truck with miles on it, replacing the strut or shock usually improves the ride. We will lay out both options.

Zach did some suspension work on my truck and it came out great, he was quick and the price was fair. Will definitely be back for more work in the future.

I had a great experience at Off Camber 4x4 as Zach is a true professional and pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond getting all hardware snugged up even though it wasn’t in the estimate - with being a late request made when I dropped off the truck. Additionally, Off Camber’s shop not only provided the most reasonable price out of the four estimates I received, they were the ONLY shop that recommended a follow up inspection for the type of service I had done. They installed a leveling kit, control arms, rear shocks, dual exhaust system, and a trailer receiver along with including the complementary inspection at 500 miles to make sure everything was still tight.

Zack made a great recommendation on the Old Man Emu overland suspension for my 2021 Ford Ranger. Also on the installation. Truck rides and handles great.

Zach and the team of Off-camber 4x4 went above and beyond to help me with a Leveling Kit for my 2019 Ram 2500! They were fast and worked around my schedule to allow for easier drop off and pickup once they were completed. 10/10 recommend them to anyone and everyone. I will only use Off-Camber

I had some Rubicon takeoff springs installed on my Wrangler JL Sport 2 door. It was awesome to watch Zach work. He took time to torque everything properly and still completed the job in a very timely fashion. It was a great experience!
